Edition of 1,500 copies. Winner of the Crawford Medal in 1953. 3,000 copies were printed of which 1,500 copies were bound and the rest stored flat. Due to its high cost (£63 / $190) not many copies sold and the book was frequently sold for below the cost price many years and decades after publication. Of the 1,500 unbound copies, 1,000 copies of the catalogue were taken over by the “Stamp Lover” and the rest destroyed. The catalogue was then issued in five individual sections at about $49.50 each (Ref. Philatelic Literature Review Vol 28 No. 1 Q1 1979).
